Adjust the box (.a7p)

I don't know who could possibly have a use for this, but this program presents the user with 2 to 8 boxes of varying size, and the user's task is to estimate the average size of the boxes.

Asteroids (.a7p) EXE

Your spaceship must navigate the trecherous asteroid field. It tends to get choppy when there are ~6 asteroids on screen, and I haven't found a way to prevent that. Play now!

Bar Graph Response Scale (.a7p)

With is example you are asked to categorize 100 people on a 0 to 10 scale of likeability. It tells you the mean, standard deviation, etc. of your responses. It also cranks out an normal curve to fit your data.

Eye-tracker (.a7p)

A moderately simple way to quantify what users are looking at on the screen. There is a big black alpha-channeled graphic blocking a photo. The graphic has a hole in the middle, through which they can view the picture. They click the area on the screen they want to see, and we track the click coordinates, what they were looking at, for how long, the serial order of what they viewed, et cetera.

Lexical Decision Task IAT (.a7p)

This was used as an implicit test of racism. It very quickly presents a word ("White," "Black," or "XXXXX") then you are shown another string of letters and your task is to decide quickly if it is a word or not. More information is available in my powerpoint presentation.

Normal Distribution (.a7p)

This is a weird response scale that I made, where you indicate your comparative ability by clicking on a normal distribution. It then shades in how much of the population you think you are better than. Unlike my bar-graph example, this normal distribution is faked.

Perceptual Identification Task IAT (.a7p)

This is another measure of implicit racism. It briefly shows a white or black face, then a picture of either a drill or a pistol. The user's task is to decide as quickly as they can which it was. More information is available in my powerpoint presentation.

Tooltips (.a7p)

I had the sudden urge to use tooltips, but when I looked at the ShowMe I was overwhelmed by the complexity of their design--so I came up with a much simpler method. It requires that each item you want a tooltip for have its own hotspot--if they linger over the hotspot for one second, then the tooltip pops up.
